Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
How are tools selected for this list?
Every tool listed is either (a) something I use in production, (b) something a client uses I have reviewed, or (c) an industry-standard tool worth knowing. No paid placements, no affiliate ranking games.
Are these tool listings sponsored or paid?
No. This directory is 100% editorial. Tool selection and ranking are based on real usage and technical merit. Sponsored reviews (when they exist) are always clearly marked.
Which tool should I start with as a beginner SDET?
Start with Playwright for e2e, Postman for APIs, GitHub Actions for CI. Then add k6 for perf and Allure for reports. Master this stack before adding more.
Do these tools have free tiers?
Most open-source (Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, k6, JMeter, OWASP ZAP) are free forever. Cloud grids (BrowserStack, Sauce Labs) have free trials and paid tiers. Enterprise tools (TestRail, Applitools) are paid.
Can I suggest a tool to add?
Yes. Email suggestions to partner@skakarh.com with the tool name, category, and why it deserves inclusion. Suggestions with real production use cases get priority.
Do you offer training on these tools?
Yes — see our Services page for custom training, framework builds, and hands-on team workshops covering the tools in this directory.
Are these tools ranked by preference?
Within each category, tools are listed roughly by popularity and industry adoption, not by personal preference. Every listed tool has genuine merit for its use case.
Need help picking the right stack?
Choosing tools is half the battle. Implementing them well is the rest. If you want an expert eye on your QA stack or a custom framework built, let's talk.
